The 2026 SEC Football Media Days officially got underway in Tampa on Monday, and the opening day delivered no shortage of headlines.
From an encouraging injury update involving one of the conference’s top running backs to a first-year head coach making one of the boldest statements of the offseason, fans were given plenty to talk about as the countdown to the college football season continues.
Several of the SEC’s biggest programs including Missouri, Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Tennessee took center stage, offering updates on injuries, expectations, rivalries, and what lies ahead in 2026.
Missouri Receives Encouraging News on Star Running Back
One of the biggest moments of the day came when Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz shared a positive update on standout running back Ahmad Hardy, who suffered a gunshot wound to the leg earlier this offseason.
Hardy was injured during an incident at a concert in Laurel, Mississippi, in May, raising serious concerns about both his health and football future.
Fortunately, Drinkwitz revealed that the recovery has progressed well.
The Missouri coach estimated Hardy could return to action in approximately five to eight weeks, although the exact timeline will depend on how his rehabilitation continues.
