Texas HC Steve Sarkisian sounds off on Arch Manning’s alarming early-season issues……….

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian didn’t hold back when addressing Arch Manning’s rocky start to the 2025 season. After a disappointing showing in the Longhorns’ 14-7 loss to Ohio State, Sarkisian pointed out that Manning’s struggles with accuracy and decision-making have been the biggest concern. Completing just 17 of 30 passes for 170 yards, one touchdown, and an interception, the highly touted quarterback has shown flashes of brilliance but continues to fall short of the consistency expected at the college football level.

Sarkisian emphasized that Manning’s issues are not about talent but about execution under pressure. “Arch has every tool you want in a quarterback,” Sark said. “But right now, the game is moving a little too fast for him, and he has to learn how to settle down and trust what we’re coaching.” He stressed that Manning must improve at reading defenses, avoiding costly mistakes, and taking what the defense gives rather than forcing throws.

Despite the criticism, Sarkisian remained firm that Texas is committed to Manning as their starter, calling these growing pains part of the process. “We knew there would be bumps along the way,” he added. “The key is how Arch responds. This is about building him into the quarterback we all know he can be.” With Texas’ season goals still intact, Sarkisian made it clear that patience, discipline, and trust in the system will determine whether Manning can quickly turn the corner.
